Alex Tregellas

Alex Tregellas, President and Founder

Before founding Deltera, Alex was Strategy Director at Invensys plc, a global leader in automation and control systems.

Alex is a specialist in Corporate Planning, M+A and Change Management with more than 20 years experience in the oil and gas business. In 1998, he founded a successful M+A advisory boutique that advised new entrants into the North Sea. Prior to this, Alex was Corporate Planning Manager at UK independent Premier Oil where he played a leading role in establishing their Asia gas strategy. From 1994 to 1996 Alex was Commercial Manager at Melrose Energy where he ran their US onshore business out of Dallas, Texas. Alex's early career was with Schlumberger in Indonesia and BP where he worked for 10 years in upstream operations in the UK.

Alex has a degree in Mechanical Engineering and Energy Studies.

David Shipway

David Shipway, Senior Associate

David has 12 years of direct energy industry experience as Senior Officer for British Gas plc (previous monopoly supplier of Gas in the UK), Gas Trading Manager then Head of Marketing and Business Development with Accord Energy Ltd (now owned by Centrica plc) where he was responsible for Trading, Marketing, Market Development and Operations in the UK, Belgium, Netherlands and Germany for Duke Energy Inc (multinational US based Utility)

David has focused on strategic development and commercial approaches to liberalization and regulatory change following the unbundling of market and transportation groups and advising on the challenges and new contractual and market arrangements which follow such changes.

Peter Taff

Peter Taff, Senior Associate

Peter Taff has played a leading role in the development of Deltera's approach to energy chain performance management.

Peter has had a long and very varied career in the gas industry: From the design and construction of the first 2 underground salt cavities at Hornsea in the UK (back in the mid 70s); to setting up a completely new gas supply/trading operations department when British Gas split into separate transportation (Transco) and trading (Centrica) functions.

In more recent years, as Head of European Operations at Centrica, he had significant involvement in the development of many of the key processes and tools for trading gas in the European gas market (including the UK/Belgian Interconnector and the Bacton Agent, the trading Hubs at Zeebrugge, TTF and Eurohub with EFET, and the founding and development of EASEE-gas). He is now an independent consultant to the European Gas Industry.

Professor Joerg Fliege

Professor Joerg Fliege, Senior Associate

Joerg has more than 15 years of experience in writing and maintaining high-performance codes for optimization and has guided Deltera's approach to energy chain modelling and optimization.

He is Director of CORMSIS (see below) at the University of Southampton where he is also Professor for Operational Research in the School of Mathematics. He has an MSc and PhD in Mathematics and Computer Science (both summa cum laude) from the University of Dortmund. He worked at the Universities of Berkeley, Brussels, Dortmund, Nuremberg, and Birmingham before moving to Southampton.

He is a Laureate of the European Society for Operations Research (EURO) as well as of INFORMS, the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences. Moreover, he is a Fellow of the Operational Research Society and member of a steering board of the European Space Agency (ESA). His research interests include computational optimization methods and their applications, particularly in engineering.
